Green Acres Manor News - June 2008
Hello All!
Well Spring is over and summer has arrived in full force. The weather is hot and the
zucchini and tomato plants are loving it. Come and see the progress of our vegetables in
both the front and back gardens. Unfortunately I found out the hard way that gophers LOVE
eggplants. Both have suddenly died and then began disappearing into the ground. Darn
gophers!
This past month has been filled with birthdays. We celebrated Howard's 81st on the 6th,
Vivian's 89th on the 19th and Maria's on the 22nd. Pictures from each of these special days
will be on the www.greenacresmanorsonoma.com website soon.
Charlie, Howard and Jack celebrated a very special Father's day with a special breakfast
and lots of visitors. They all seemed to be enjoying the extra attention on their special
day.
*** Please note there is a change of date for the Luau / Anniversary BBQ. It is now
Saturday July 26th. Please mark your calendars. The time for the Luau is still the same,
11:00 - 2:00pm. Please RSVP by July 19th. Don't forget to wear your Hawaiian shirt.
Each year we take the residents to the Sonoma County Fair and this year we will be going
on Tues July 29th. We would love to have you come with us on this fun filled day. We arrive
at the fair when it opens, enjoy the pavilions and animals, have lunch, free ice-cream then
head home. If you decide to join us, the fair is free to seniors and their companions on
that day. Please let me know by July 26th.
July is Birthday month here at Green Acres. We have Rebecca on the 1st, Christina on the
6th, Joe on the 9th, Pat Allen celebrates her 92nd birthday on the 12th and Julio's
birthday is on the 13th. Please wish them all a Happy Birthday when you see them.
The Alzheimer's memory walk will be taking place on Saturday, October 18th and we would
love it if you would help us in our fundraising effort and walk with us. Each month leading
up to the walk I will be supplying more information about Alzheimer's and asking for your
help to make a difference.
