Green Acres Manor News - October 2007
Hola (Hello),
Joe and I just returned from Puerto Vallarta Mexico where we had a great time. We were
able to spend some time in the sun, rest and relax and have some great Mexican food. The
weather was perfect with hardly a cloud in the sky and tolerable humidity. When you see
Joe you’ll know that he went somewhere warm and sunny, unlike me, I look like I didn’t go
anywhere which is just the way I wanted it.
During this month we had fun at the Alzheimer’s walk and had a good time carving
pumpkins. We took some of the residents to a mean game of bingo at our church hall in
Oakmont where some of them came close to winning a good deal of money. Thank you to Mimi
and Midge for coming with us. Every staff member and resident got their flu shots this
month. As a reminder if you have the sniffles or are sick please wait to visit your family
member until you are well. Each employee and resident was given a Halloween goodie bag
with some candy in it to help celebrate the day. We don’t have any birthdays to report
this month but I promise we have some coming up in the last two months of the year.
As the Holidays approach we know you will want to spend some extra time with your loved
one, so we at Green Acres Manor would like to invite you to have Thanksgiving as well as
Christmas lunch with us here. Just let me know as soon as possible so that we can set a
place for you at the table. In addition, if you or any members of your family are planning
on taking your loved one out for Thanksgiving or Christmas please let me know as soon as
possible so that we can plan appropriately.
Joe, I and the staff at Green Acres Manor would like to invite all the families to come
on Christmas morning after breakfast to open gifts as we did last year. Joe and I agree
that this was the best time we’ve had with the residents and families. Please mark it on
your calendar and let me know if you are able to come and share this wonderful holiday
celebration with us.
During the next few months I’m sure we will have more and more families visiting which
we love and welcome but I need to discuss one of our house rules with you all. I ask that
when you enter the property that you park on the right side of the driveway next to the
hedges versus under the willow tree. This will ensure that emergency vehicles are able to
get down the driveway without interference. The other reason for this is also that the
fire hydrant is located next to and under the willow tree and I wouldn’t want anyone’s car
to be damaged if the fire department needed to get to the fire hydrant. So please do not
park on the left side of the driveway under the willow tree. Thank you for your assistance
with this.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Wishing you all health and happiness,
Monica Hansen
